Contemporary Threads, The Wee Gallery, Kelso

Craft Festival Scotland is running throughout May and June 2010 all around Scotland showcasing some of the finest craftmanship in these parts and I'm taking part! Throughout May I will be exhibiting and selling work from The Wee Gallrery in Kelso with two other fine textile designer-makers Valerie Graves and Lynsey Roberts. The show is called Contemporary Threads and will run from the 4th May until 29th May and it's free to pop in and have a look round. Check out www.dundee.ac.uk/craftfest/ or www.weegallerykelso.co.uk for more information. Look forward to seeing you there!
Other events you should definately check out are the Heriot-Watt University School of Textiles and Design Degree Show from 1st-5th June, from the looks of it there is going to be some fantastic work on show. Check out www.tex.hw.ac.uk for more information.

New Designers: One Year On 2010

Lots to report, but something that I've known for a month or so now is that I've been selected for New Designers: One Year On taking place down in London this July. I'm really excited about this opportunity and I'm currently busying myself with new work for the event and the launch of the India Collection I've been working on for about a year now. The plan if I can pull it off is to have three new repeated designs...my favourite way of working! There will also be all the soft furnishings and paper work I've been working away on over the last few months as well.
In other news (and the next post) I'm part of an exhibition in association with Craft Festival Scotland www.dundee.ac.uk/craftfest/ in Kelso throughout May...check back for more info!

//Details To Follow// Launch

Last night was the launch of //Details to Follow// in Glasgow and it was absolutely heaving! A great night was had by all with plenty of sales going on and contacts being made. The last week has whizzed by in a blur as I finished up my stuff and it was great to see it out and about at the event...the birdcages seemed to be going down very well! By 8.30 there was a queue out the door which was great and everyone was having a jolly good time.
Everything on show looked super amazing, a couple of my favourites included the Seedboms, check out www.kabloom.co.uk, face ceramics by Julia Smith www.juliasmithceramics.com and the re-claimed, re-upholstered work by Fun Makes Good www.funmakesgood.co.uk by Eleanor Young.

Check out The Gin Palace blogspot for more information on all the designers showcased...www.theginpalacecollective.blogspot.com

Easter Fun at the Dragonfly

The first day of the Dragonfly Studios Easter open weekend has gone off without a hitch, check out the cute easter lambs below! Everyone that has taken part so far has gone home very happy with their cute Easter lamb and I have been named official seamstress of eyes...for my beautiful stitching skills when it came to giving the lambs their peepers.

And I even managed some outdoor screen-printing; to say it was snowing at the start of the week...not bad eh?! I managed to screen-print 9 cards, and I was taking it very easy letting the screens dry in the sun (which was lovely when it graced us with it's presence). Three days to go...lets hope they're just as successful!

The weekend is nearly here!

It's nearly Easter already, where has March gone! Tonight is the start of our studio activities for the weekend including the launch of my studio buddy's 'Felt Club' tonight followed by an exciting mix of workshops and demonstrations taking place throughout the weekend (see below for the cutest felted lambs). I'll be trying my best to demonstrate the art of screen-printing, you'll be sure to see some new greetings cards very soon! I hope everyone has a great Easter, mine will definately be jam packed but great fun too!
